Unseen Zone

By Sakura Magtanggol

I was there, you weren’t.
I felt them, you didn’t.
I knew them…their games,
their schemes, their lies – you don’t.
Stop telling me to stop.
Stop telling me to shut
my eyes, my ears, my mind…
I am here, you aren’t.
Slowly but surely soon
we will be the unseen.

I teach Economics. I am a mother too. This work just came out of frustration and disappointment on how the pandemic is being handled by our leaders and, how their fans would always just say… “If you having nothing good to say, shut up.”
