And Just Like That, the Whole World Changed

By Sky Hawkins

Sky Hawkins aka The Word Bird is a dyslexic poet and has been ranting on stages, winning the odd slam in the north east and beyond for over a decade now

She got into performance poetry through writing about her nosey gossiping neighbour across the road on the council estate she raised her son as a single parent.

I love the challenge of writing a haiku (less is more) and needed an outlet for my feelings throughout lockdown. Haikus seemed the perfect way. I also discovered a love for drawing. Each haiku is escorted by a drawing and I intend to get them published together at some point in the future.
