Stained shirt
toe poking through his sock
he hasn’t shaved for weeks
or cleaned his teeth
not that it matters
it’s not as if he’ll be seeing anyone
anytime soon
in fact
he’s discovered
he quite enjoys the isolation
at least this pandemic
has stopped her next door from bothering him.
He chuckles
remembering it took just a little cough
behind the front door
after she’d knocked it again and again
and she hurried down the path
like a scalded cat.
He chuckles again
and makes his tea.

I’ve been writing poetry since childhood and had several published in local and national newspapers. A member of the Writing Community on Twitter @memarwoo and also of The Poetry Society.
I like the turn-around humour of this! A light touch. Well done.
Thankyou!
Forced a smile! So as a poet you have done your job!
I like to make people smile! Glad I succeeded!
