Lockdown Alphabet

By Anne Murray

Anne B. Murray’s poems have been published in several journals and anthologies. She organises public poetry readings and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, Glasgow’s Aye Write and Stirling’s Off the Page Festivals.

I view this poem as a performance piece and am looking forward to sharing it with a live audience whenever . . . . .

Really covers it doesn’t it, with the whole alphabet. Nicely done. Glad someone has found a tree to pee behind, I’ve yet to find a suitable one!
I like the form of it too, the way it’s set out ‘on the page’.

A wonderful abecedarian! It really draws attention to how the pandemic has ‘infected’ the entire alphabet…and at the same time has drawn people together in new shared experiences (I particularly related to ‘P’). Would love to see/hear the performance!

Love this. Especially B,J, Y and Z. List form prevents it becoming sentimental or misery writhe. Would be good to use with my prison workshop.
