Soap

By Annie Kenning

so much depends
upon

the bar of
soap

slick from repeated
use

beside the running
water.

I am a writer based in Wellington, New Zealand. When I’m not doing the school run, I’m leaning over my laptop, pounding words into stories (with my trusty hound at my feet).

The pandemic created in me a compost bin of emotions – anger, fear, sadness, contentedness, solitude, and gratefulness. This compost has been the perfect fertilizer for my creativity and writing.  I am now the proud owner of an emerging ‘writers garden’ – with sprouts of flash fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction starting to surface.

Love to see the reference to William Carlos Williams – and a very worthy sentiment too.
