Two Poems

By Isabelle Ward

Isa grew up in the UK. She currently lives in Tokyo and works as an environmental urban researcher.

I have been separated from my family in the UK during the Covid pandemic. Whilst the pandemic has been isolating for all, it has also put us on a more equal platform despite geographical differences. No one has been able to meet and we all have developed ways of communicating online. Though I found the pandemic experience to be one of loneliness and homesickness, especially when people passed away and I was living alone, it has been positive to realise what I desire most when the world stops; the connection with those most important in my life. As this poetry series demonstrates, we all also ended up having a lot of time to write.
