I’ve been writing poetry since childhood. I teach English, Communication, and Humanities at Edison State Community College in Piqua Ohio. I often read my works at local poetry readings and enjoy sharing my work with others. I’m also part of a Yellow Springs poetry group.
This poem was inspired in the early spring 2020 when the isolation first started to hit us. Yet there was Spring, calling us to come out and see the beauty. I was, and still am, living with my twenty-something son who has an intellectual disability. This poem was about finding patience in slowing down and realizing how much I really needed to accept why we needed to stay at home and be kind to one another.
