Two Poems

By Ann D Stevenson

Lockdown

Information, education
on the present situation.

Intimidation,
pontification,
stay in location,
no integration,
no vacation,
no celebration,
just segregation
and separation.

For stimulation
and inspiration
use imagination,
conversation,
communication.

Until medication
for rehabilitation,
despite deprivation,
desperation, irritation,
frustration
and temptation,
avoid dissemination,
annihilation,
obliteration and damnation,
show consideration,
no procrastination,
stay in isolation,
Save The Nation.

P.S. Jubilation,
a vaccination,
major celebration!

Remembrance in Lockdown

The Albert Hall, haunted
by those who’d gone before,
empty seats listened
to emotional refrains of

‘We’ll Meet Again’.

The Cenotaph, silenced,
missing marching men,
empty streets, echoed
footsteps of the few,

those who still remained.

Memorials, shrouded,
misted in an air of peace,
empty spaces waited
for many unlaid wreaths.

‘We Will Remember’.

I live in Gloucestershire, UK, retired, and recently taken up writing a bit of poetry.
