If 2020 is the Year we Will Hate Forever I can Honestly Say I saw it Coming

By Wallace Lane

1. I do not
need to hear the world is ending
to know that the thrill of something good
is no more.

2. I cannot
bring myself to a knee or a tear
during global pandemonium
because inside my heart
it feels like a pandemic already.

3. Politics
scream Black Lives Matter
but I know my body
will always be outlined
as a red beam or bounty.

4. Fairness wears two faces: just look at what they did to my ancestors.

5. I did say this would be the year
I would not pray for anyone until I prayed for myself.
