In Hiding

By Gail Webb

Spring had fast arrived without glory,
Nature rushed in, tricked us this time.
Instead of the usual
fresh air, new beginnings,
a virus snuck in-
Covid Nineteen,
to scare us
into
hell.

Gail Webb lives in Nottingham by the River Trent. She moved here from Wales many years ago,  worked as a social worker for thirty plus years. In 2018, Gail started writing and performing her own poetry. She joined Nottingham Writer’s Studio, has had work featured with Nottingham City Arts and is an active member of Diy Poets and Poetry Crane Collective.

Gail was published in the  international feminist journal Boshemia , Origins edition, in 2019 and she has also had a number of poems published with Visual Verse on-line anthology. She has a poem in the recently launched Leeds Trinity University anthology on George Eliot, “ An Insubstantial Universe” published in England by Yaffle Press 2020 and in a forthcoming anthology by Siren Poets, poems inspired by the Earth.
