COVID 19

By Jean Hart

Isn’t it strange how life can change
In the blink of an eye
Who would have known, in the UK alone
Over forty thousand people would die
All over the globe, a lethal microbe
By the name of Covid Nineteen
Is causing alarm and wreaking great harm,
No sign of a valid vaccine
Huge devastation and self isolation
Imposed on most of mankind
Scant preparations, and all of our nations
Need the code of our lives redefined
Will we be blinder? Will we be kinder?
Can we rebuild what we’ve lost?
Can we start sharing the process of caring?
If not, we won’t bear the cost

My names Jean Hart, I’m seventy one, and write poetry when I want to make sense of life’s sad or distressing events, and find some love and hope within them.
